Bob,

Short and sweet answers.

1. You only need one Node/Internet gateway, it does not need to be
hooked up to HF and it does not have to be set up for local hubbing.
Start out simple with a gateway/Node and a couple of stations to be
able to pass messages with-in your county. If you need to interface
with other jursidictions in MD and your node is down, see what the
frequencies are of the neighboring jurisdictions are and try to
connect to their node, or set up an HF station ($$$$$) and connect
that way.

2. Several Jurisdiction are using the same frequency for their node/
gateway at their EOC (145.750) without any interference to neighboring
counties (even when all are using airmail/winlink at the same time).
I would say use 145.750 at your EOC and then set the stations to that
frequency to connect to the node. As a default, the gateway software
is set to accept five contacts at the same time and works quite well
up to at least 12 (the max we in Prince George's County have been able
to get on the air at the same time).

Questions, about doing VHF winlink, let me know.
