[MRIC] Meeting April 25, 2009

Pat Scolla wb0egr at comcast.net
Tue Apr 14 17:44:42 EDT 2009

The address for the Harford County EOC is as follows:

2220 Ady Road
Forest Hill, MD 21050

Also, the EOC is located about 1.5 blocks north of the intersection of MD
Route 543 and Conowingo Road on RT 543 (also known as Ady Road).

We will be monitoring the 146.775 MHz repeater (PL 146.2) should anyone need
assistance finding the place.

Also, the pizza delivery is already taken care of, and there are pop
machines (or should I say sods) available for those who might want some ice
tea or other beverages, and for the hot drinks crowd, there will be a self
serve coffee maker with a variety of coffees, teas, and hot chocolate
available for use during the meeting.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

73,

Pat, wb0egr

Subject: [MRIC] Meeting April 25, 2009

Maryland RACES Officers:

Just a reminder that our next MRIC meeting is less than two weeks away
scheduled for Saturday April 25 from 10:30 to 15:00 in Harford County.
Pat, please provide an address so we can mapquest it for directions and
travel times. We also will need a phone number to call for pizza
delivery during the meeting. I will provide sodas. Everyone please
bring some cash to contribute to pizza, unless you prefer to bring a
bag lunch.

Please find below a copy of the proposed minutes distributed after our
last meeting in January. Please review it prior to the meeting so we do
not have to take meeting time to read it. Bring your comments with you
to the meeting and they will be discussed/incorporated then.

I will distribute a proposed agenda in the next few days.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Brett Hammond
Chairman, MRIC

Approve Minutes:
A motion was made by Fred to approve the November 22 meeting minutes as
distributed earlier this week. Seconded by Pat. Motion passed by
unanimous consent without objection.
-------------------------------------------------------
Contact List:
The Maryland RACES Contact List was reviewed and updated. A motion was
made by Frank to approve the RO Contact info, seconded by Bob Lovell.
It was approved without objection by unanimous consent. A copy will be
emailed to the MRIC email reflector after the meeting.
-------------------------------------------------------
80 Meter Freq:
The 80 meter net frequency was briefly discussed and postponed until
the next meeting when Dan Blasburg can make his presentation.
-------------------------------------------------------
Winlink Freq:
The discussion on Winlink frequencies was postponed until the next
meeting with Ray Brown can attend.
-------------------------------------------------------
Freq List:
The Maryland RACES Frequency coordination list was updated several
times throughout the meeting and was approved without objection by
unanimous consent. There were several changes made at this meeting, and
all changes are noted in the log at the beginning of the document. The
approved list will be forwarded to the MRIC email reflector after the
meeting.

Brett also reported on the email received by the T-MARC Chairman Dave
Prestel in response to the MR
IC letter sent in November requesting
T-MARC preserve all currently designated simplex frequencies in
Maryland. There is some contradiction between the letter and T-MARC web
site which T-MARC will address in a future letter to MRIC, but arequest
was made that the current preliminary letter be distributed to all MRIC
members. Brett agreed to forward it to the MRIC reflector.
-------------------------------------------------------
RO Contact Info:
The discussion on how much RACES Officer contact information we want to
make public was put off until the next meeting. There was concern
expressed that EOC address and phone numbers be kept confidential. No
decision yet if we want to make some or all of our frequencies public.
-------------------------------------------------------
Web Site:
There was some discussion about a volunteer from Kent County that may
be willing to create an MRIC web site for us so we can publish our
interoperability standards on the Internet (excluding confidential
information). In the mean time, Fred will distribute the yahoo site
information for document sharing. We will continue to use the same MRIC
email reflector until further notice.
-------------------------------------------------------
Tech Support:
Bill Clark mentioned that along with the web site, they were looking
into providing an email reflector for MRIC Winlink technical support
questions, where emails would be forwarded to all the volunteers
willing to provide Winlink assistance
to other ROs.
-------------------------------------------------------
HF Net Test Results:
There was some discussion about continuing the MRIC HF Voice Net
testing. Pat agreed to continue to be net control for testing every
Saturday before the normal monthly MEMA RACES COMMEX from now until our
next MRIC meeting. This means HF tests will be conducted at 10:00,
14:00 and 18:00 on Saturday:
February 7, 2009
March 7, 2009
April 11, 2009
-------------------------------------------------------
Appendix A:
The sections of Appendix A relating to HF Winlink and VHF/UHF voice
nets were reviewed and approved. The part of Appendix A regarding HF
Voice was not reviewed due to time constraints. This means we now have
an MRIC recommended equipment list for Winlink2000 email, and VHF/UHF
voice equipment that may be used in order to meet our approved
interoperability standards.

A motion was made by Bob Long to accept Appendix A with edits,
excluding HF voice section. Seconded by Frank Winner.

The motion passed unanimously by roll-call vote of the members still
present at the time:

yes - Allegany - Bill Tucker
yes - Anne Arundel - Frank Winner
yes - Baltimore City - Paul Kidd
yes - Calvert - Leslie Dickey
yes - Howard - Dan Wilt (for Dave Prestel)

yes - Montgomery - Fred Bader
yes - Queen Anne's - Mike Widdekind (for Chuck Hodell)

yes - Washington - Bob Long
-------------------------------------------------------

approved by unanimous consent at 15:05.
