Hello,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the MRIC for its dedication and technical expertise. Your work is truly benefitting all local jurisdictions with RACES assets. We look forward to Mr. Hammond's report in May.
Since I know there is some confusion, please accept the following as clarification of a quorum for any subcommittee of the Maryland Emergency Management Association. Your specific Charter, effective January 25th, 2007 states that "...the Committee's Interoperability recommendations require at least a 2/3 vote of the members present to pass out of committee,". For now, this is how the MRIC should conduct business.
In the near future the Association will be formalizing and incorporating into the bylaws information on subcommittees which will include MRIC. There will be a standardized quorum dictated for all standing subcommittees. I would encourage all ROs to discuss these issues with their emergency managers and have their emergency managers contact me, or bring issues to the floor at the May meeting where they will be handled.
Again, we thank you for your time and efforts. We fully expect a professional relationship with and among the members of the MRIC and for its business to be conducted with that same professionalism.
