Maryland RACES Officers,

I am pleased to announce that the Maryland Emergency Management Association
approved our recommendations to create a state-wide RACES HF voice net during
their meeting a week ago.

When our liaison, Ed Mullikin (Director, Talbot County Emergency Management
Agency) made the motion to establish a state-wide RACES data network using
Winlink2000 email as recommended by MRIC, there were questions from one or two
jurisdictions and the motion was tabled until their next meeting in May. I
was asked to attend in May to answer their questions. It is very likely this
motion will pass at that time.

While talking with Ed after the meeting, he suggested we continue full speed
ahead with the work we have planned for our next meeting in April fully
specifying our Winlink network, and not to be discouraged by this minor delay.

Thank you all again for your service, for all your hard work and technical
contributions at the MRIC meetings, and for working so well together. It is a
pleasure to work with you, and I look forward to another productive meeting
on April 26.

Sincerely,

Brett Hammond
Chairman, MRIC
