Hi Ray - Thanks - I like your thinking !! Washington B&G Military Vehicle
show...MRCG/CSLO
As to cross-country HF, the only gear that I know of that will be up and
available at the annual MRCG Camp San Luis Opispo muster will be 3 HF
packsets, including my PRC-174, probably all running whips. Maybe 18 mc
could make the shot in the evening.
I was planning on running on our Saturday morning 0930 PST (1230 EST) RATT
Clatternet, 7087, 850 shift etc for our regular "net" if anyone shows up
(who is NOT at SLO ! hihi) We'll see... I kind of doubt we could make it
across country on 40 meters during the daytime...RATT or USB
I don't have much experience with 18 mc propagation but do you think we
would have a path at 0200Z - (2200 EDST / 1900 PDST) FRIDAY 5/5 evening?
18.145 USB... we could try that. VOA prop says that time on 18 mc might be
possible with 25W packsets on each end, whips, with a 15% probability of
adequate SNR. (Up to 40% via CW which would be easy for me...)
(Your GRC-106 would of course be stronger coming West..) That seems to be
the best time for this path on 18 mc. Looks like 1200 EDST on 18 mc is not
possible...Waddaya think?
So let's coordinate ideas - I should have EMail connectivity there..
Anyone else - ideas??
Thanks, Tim
