[MRCG] Solid State Vibrators

Many altimeters have an " anti-stiction device" built in, which emits a 10 hz or so clicking noise.  Many panels use panel shakers.  The Link trainers used a small shaded pole motor with an eccentric weight on the shaft.  The motor was bolted to the back of the panel.  This pre-dated the Chuck Yeager anecdote by nearly a decade.  Instrument sticking is a problem in most aircraft the don't  have an engine in the nose.ScottSent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone
