Mark-
Not necessarily true on all VFDs. I have successfully set up TECO and
Automation Direct VFDs to run as inverters by fixing parameters voltage and
frequency in the setup., and I have run bot ARC-58s and 618Ts from these
VFDs. The big caveat is that you will need to run either a delta to wye
transformer or wye autotransformer to derive the neutral.

Thanks! That's the kind of information I was looking for, even if it's not
good news. I'll give up on the VFD idea and keep looking for other options.

Yes, I'm a member there, and I've also been discussing my ill-advised VFD
idea there.
