Hi Tom, Thanks, good inputs.
There are a lot of possibilities here. There are many public parks in the
Delta area that could be used for temporary field sites. Eg: A couple of
years back Tom and Jason operated a TBX from Sandy Beach Park, on the Sacto
river a few hundred yards downstream from Rio Vista. (Good comms BTW). We
were also up on 144.450 mc AM with the A.R.C. Type 12 at Camp Delta and
Tom's MAW in the field....

We had also published FRAG Orders with the comm plan/schedule, but for
those not on-site it only worked for the normal Saturday night MRCG AM net
that we just checked into. We were also up on 5357 USB for the mil SSB net
(but that was primarily with my wife back home! LOL) But we guarded that
freq and others all day. Attached is one sample FRAG Order / Comm Plan
that I had sent to MRCG & MVCC et. al. as an example.

The Wednesday evening Mil net on 3996 USB is also an easy one...I also
operated a lot of CW, primarily on 40 meters which proved to be interesting
to site visitors... A few MVCC guys were also up on 51.0, per the comm
plans..

So there are really two facets to this: On-site expanded displays and
operations in conjunction with the larger MVCC event/theme. Secondly,
comms with offsite participants, either via HF from home stations or from
nearby field sites. Any and all work.

Comms with offsite stations is interesting to demonstrate military HF
equipment and capabilities to visitors, but the invitation emphasizes
on-site displays as part of the overall military theme for participants and
visitors. Not everyone wants to sit around and listen to us in a brief QSO
on the Saturday evening AM net! Some ongoing level of daily, scheduled
demonstrations would be welcomed. Even "technical talks" are welcome, even
encouraged...

The static equipment displays we did at SLO or Estrella Warbirds would be
very interesting to the usual suspects, even more so if they were actively
operating on-site...

But we can do much better to encourage more participation, either on site,
in the area, or from home stations.. This event has the potential to be a
really good mil "Field Day/Exercise" like the ones in Santa Paula in years
past (which seemed to have faded away).

Thanks,Tim
