Hi Guys - Glad the Op events went well, thanks so much to all for
organizing and executing.... Despite me bringing a complete HF, VHF & VHF
DF sets and field telephone gear I was unable to get there Friday morning.
Missed everything, so just resorted to setting up the TRC-77 with the 1950
silk E&E map of eastern Siberia and Mongolia for context.

I had also noticed that C-47 parked at the swap site (on its rubber tires)
would make a great HF antenna for the TRC-77. (clip lead to the fuselage
tail), I have no doubt that it would be an effective antenna for both NVIS
and the longer-haul shot up to KPH at Pt. Reyes on 7050 CW. But had to
bail early - so NEXT YEAR!!!

Fun fact: Andy and I (with Alex operating) tried HF CW mobile on 7050 kc
CW while we drove to The Radio Ranch down I-5. We were both running 10
watt TRC-77's, mine with a 14' center loaded whip on the vehicle. We heard
Andy but the noise level from all the car computers etc made it difficult.
He didn't hear us. So more tweaking to be done. Would have been fun!

Random input: I like Estrella better than SLO for many reasons (except no
on-site chow hall or barracks). Doing it there, possibly 3-4 weeks earlier
might be better, cooler, and deconflicted with the MVCC stuff at Lodi next
year....

I thought the event and venue were great - many thanks for all the hard
work to pull it off!
