Hi Mark,
I found you through a Google search for information about TBX radios. I am an artist who specializes in military historical artwork. I am in the process of planning a painting that will depict the landing at the beginning of the Battle of Peleliu. The subject of the painting will be the contributions of the Navajo Code Talkers. I am reading the book written by Chester Nez. I want to get the equipment accurate in the painting and I was hoping that maybe you could help. Chester mentions that he used a TBX radio and that he and his partner carried the two parts to it. I want to show Chester and his partner at the time, Francis on the beach shortly after landing with the battle happening around them as they begin to transmit the all important code. That is why getting the equipment correct is critical for this piece. Thank you any help you can provide.
Hi there! That sounds like a really neat project. I haven't had a complete TBX so far; I've just had that incomplete one, which I think I ended up trading away. I'm copying this reply to the mailing list of the Military Radio Collectors Group, because I'm sure there are folks in our group who can provide good examples of what a properly configured TBX ought to look like.
Folks, please try to reply directly to Jason, because I don't think he's on the mailing list. I'll try to remember to forward any related list chatter to him.
