Hi All -
I've been in search of an O-39()/TRA-7 frequency shift exciter for the
last year or so (to add proper RTTY capabilities to my someday-to-be
AN/GRC-26 station, the build of which is currently in its infancy), and
my casual efforts have turned up exactly 0 results.? Lately I've posted
a WTB on QRZ.com, checked around with a few vendors (Fair Radio, SSN,
etc) with no luck.
Thought perhaps the Clatternet group here might have some leads on where
I can find one of these units.
Thanks in advance for any leads anyone might have on where I might find
(or look for) one of these.

Hi Jason,
I also have a TED (mine is the 5). No one wants them but I have not had the
heart to
part mine out. These are so nicely built. If you ever get a T-368 it'd look
nice next to it.

I've got the companion RTTY receiving converter that was used in the
GRC-26. Its a dual diversity IF type converter that weighs a LOT.
Navy FRF aka CV-31. Also have the manual. If interested give me
a shout. I'm a RTTY nerd but would rather see this go to a real original
GRC-26.

FWIW, the TED/URR-35 combo can be operated on 220 with no mods.? There is
very little activity, but it might be cool to try some local comms with
early UHF gear.? The ARC-27 and ARC-33 will also go down to 220.

I acquired an absolutely gorgeous BC-348-R.? The former owner had polished and brass plated all of the front panel hardware and handles.? This really looks nice against the factory new black crinkle paint.? Looks like he had completely disassembled and cleaned/rebuilt the unit.? One problem...the Local Oscillator can't be adjusted enough to properly align two of the bands (the air variable alignment caps are adjusted for minimum capacitance)...and the other bands are near max adjustment for their alignment as well.? One of the bands (80M, Band 3) is off by almost 300 KC.? I swapped the LO module with another (same 'R' architecture)...with identical results...so it isn't likely to be the fixed value Mica temperature compensation caps in the LO for the bands.? At this point I am thinking the dial assembly may have been re-assembled wrong.? Has anybody taken this path before and removed/adjusted this assembly?? If the Frequency Dial Face can't be adjusted (it assembles into a fi
xed/aligned position), maybe the main tuning cap to dial face is mis-aligned?...As a last resort I can always pull the LO out and reduce the fixed band caps...but prefer to correct the problem.? If possible, I may return the LO caps to mid position and then move the dial/main tuning cap to match the alignment freq I am using (4.0 MC).? Thoughts anyone?

The problem is almost certainly that the radio is rejecting the plating and polishing of the frone panel much like a transplant when the patience body rejects the organ ; )

If you polish the brass, doesn't that convert it from Army to Navy? Or must you also paint it grey ? And add some varnish "bright work"? And if is still miss-aligned, subject it to a "Captain's Mast"?
