Ready to start the year with a nice archeological dig ?

It’s time to do a final cleanout of my mentor’s estate – after  20 years, we’re finally getting around to this. He ran a consumer audio repair shop on the Monterey Peninsula from the 1930’s to the 1980s and was a professional audio engineer. He provided the sound system for the Monterey Pop Festival and the Monterey Jazz Festival for 30 years, and operated a recording studio in Monterey.

Reading the list below, keep in mind that the stuff is mostly used, in poor to fair condition. Some parts are new. We WILL end up filling a huge dumpster, as there is a lot of stuff that probably won’t find homes.

THE CATCH – we need help ! You can take anything, and as much as you want – no cost – except we expect you will help us fill the dumpsters, too. We can’t do it alone. You will want to bring gloves and dust masks.

Stuff ( too much to list, here’s some of it ) -

Monterey Jazz Festival memorabilia – the iconic chairs you see in the brochures, etc.
Vintage professional audio equipment – JBL, ALTEC, Ampex, etc. 
Many Ampex portable recorders, some complete, some parts units.
Many horn speakers, all quite large, don’t know if there are drivers too,
Many file cabinets full of documentation on both consumer and professional gear.
Many vintage console radios, chassis and parts
Older test equipment, some military surplus
Tubes, meters, transformers, switches, hardware, connectors, wire, parts of all kinds
