[MRCG] Military Radio Collector's Group Annual Meeting - Details

Only 5 weeks before the 20th Annual Meet ! 

So, time to get ready – don’t forget to bring stuff to operate and display (Judging again this year), and for the Swap Meet and Junker Auction !

Location: Camp San Luis Obispo
              NCO Club
              San Luis Obispo, CA.

Dates:  Un-official Early Birds  -  April 30 (Thursday after 2 pm )
            Friday May 1    -  8 AM to very, very late
            Saturday May 2 – 8 AM to 4 pm

Coffee and Donuts on site in the NCO Club

ENTRANCE TO THE BASE:

Please print it, and fill it out before you get to the gate – it makes getting into the base faster and the gate guards appreciate not having to do this “on-the-spot”. Note – you can also download it from the website http://wp.mrcgwest.org

Have your vehicle registration, insurance card, and drivers license ready with the form when you arrive at the gate.

Follow the little “MRCG” flags to the NCO Club. Thru the gate - go straight then right at the dead end, left over the bridge at the stop sign, then second right to the Club.

STAYING ON THE BASE:

If you plan on Tent Camping, Motorhome Camping, or staying in the barracks, you MUST contact the Billeting Office AFTER April 1st.
Please call them at: 805-594-6513 to make your reservation. Remember it’s first-come, first-served.

If you’ve never been there, the camping/RV area is located at the NCO Club, and has BBQs, full RV hookups and recently constructed nice clean showers and bathroom facilities.

RADIO OPERATIONS ON BASE:

Radio operations are ONLY permitted in the NCO Club Grounds ( including the RV / Camping area ) and any other areas for which we have received Prior Approval.

We have requested (and filled out a lot of forms!) to use Antenna Hill (training area Romeo) as in past years. We expect approval, and with that comes a requirement to have a short briefing BEFORE anyone goes out there. All participants who will operate outside of the NCO Club grounds must attend the briefing, which will occur Friday, May 1, at 9 AM in the NCO Club.

DINING ON BASE

We have received permission to eat at the nice Dining Facility on base. Again, if you’ve not been there, the base Dining Facility isn’t the old Mess Hall you might remember. This recently constructed facility features a lot of very good food at very reasonable prices. At this time of year, the base is always busy with cadet training, so it’s best to get there early. The hours are:

    Breakfast 6:00-7:30
    Lunch  11:30-1:00
    Dinner   5:00-6:30


The Dining Facility Manager has requested the expected head count for Friday Night Dinner – that’s their “tight spot” - they need to prepare enough food. If you think you will be eating there Friday night, please let me know by email. We’ll update the count for late arrivals on Friday...

T-SHIRTS

A special 20th Annual T-Shirt will be available for $20. Quantities and sizes are very limited. There is still time (barely !) if you want to pre-order and guarantee yourself a T-shirt. If you do, email me right away with sizes and quantities !

This was a wonderful fund raiser for MRCG last year, and should be again this year. 100% of all money collected over cost goes into the MRCG cash box.

OTHER NEWS

Did you know that MRCG has a new website ? The old site at http://www.mrcgwest.org is now officially deprecated. However, it does contain a link to the new website which is temporarily located at http://wp.mrcgwest.org. Soon, the old site will be dropped, and at that time the new site will be accessible thru the “www” prefix directly.
