[MRCG] Al Tipsword W6GER SK

Very sad about Al.  He was my first contact with my newly acquired PRC-47 some 14 or 15 years ago.  I was set-up in the backyard with the whip and he got quite a kick out of that!  Met with him (along with Dave Ross) many times at the Hamfests and military radio/NWMRE functions up here in Oregon. 

  We seemed to always have an RF path between us no matter where we lived.  I was always Uncle Fred in sunny Corvallis.

  What a great guy.

Al got rid of most if not all his gear through R5D3 Surplus in Portland.  I heard he also traded some gear for yardwork etc.

Got the sad news from my friend below.

Al attended many of our MRCG Meets in the past but had been absent , for health reasons, the last few years.

Al was a active participant on the Clatternet

Well I saw the official obit for Al Tipsword this week in the paper, took a while 'to find a e-mailable
version.

Al W6GER Tipsword passed away Jan 23rd. He was 75 years old.

Looks like he and his wife moved into a retirement home
here in town.

Funny she did not reach out to any one I know to get rid of his
radio equipment.
