Hi Guys...Attached is a file I got from Dave Ross many years ago regarding
the Collins CV-2455 RATT convertor for the PRC-47. I had checked into the
Clatternet on 10,137 Kc several times using a stock (USB) PRC-47 and
CV-2455. I do not have a mechanical terminal unit so I used an ancient DOS
notebook computer for a "glass terminal", worked great. The filters in the
CV-2455 are *really* good. Photo of this setup in my camping truck...
I had to build an optically coupled teminal interface to convert CV-2455
Loop currents to TTL levels and vice versa. (The blue box - which included
other stuff at the time)..A simple circuit that worked well interfacing
the RS-232 input on the Laptop...
I forget, but I think my stock equipment (and therefore Clatternet)
probably was Space Low - my CV-2455 does not show any evidence of a Marine
Corps MI as Dave's note indicates...
Also, a Clattenet convention was to turn *off* "diddles" - they apparently
caused the mechanical terminals fits...
By the time I had mounted and tested all this gear in the truck, Clatternet
moved to 80 meters due to propagation conditions between the PAC Northwest
guys and I could no longer work them on Saturday mornings on that
band....This gear worked quite well on 30 meters however...
