In response to Ed Zeranski's comments about having more operators at the SLO event. I want to talk to some people and brainstorm this a bit because the problem of too few operators has been with us for years and years. This year it was small but enthusiastic but could have been a little bigger and better. The operating event was winged all the way but the participants had fun and some people got to try out radios for the first time and everyone managed to make it on to the same frequency.

I have been talking about doing some distant contacts on sideband for years and have only done it once and the power line noise was so bad that year it didn't work out well. I am going to see about setting up some skeds with like minded people on 7mc usb. Also last year at night Andy MIller and I had a sked with a station 400 miles away on 75 meters using a GRC-9. We made contact on AM but switched to CW because of conditions. I would also like to use this group to find operators that can keep a sked for other MilRad events on AM, CW or SSB.

I would like to hear from all interested parties with ideas and suggestions, I think with a little planning in the future we can have even more fun. Tom, WA6OPE
