Hi Jim -

Glad you were able to listen to the Live Audio Feed from
http://www.mrcgwest.org. I'm not sure why the delay is soooo long, must be a
memory setting somewhere. maybe on the webserver. I couldn't hear you down
here, but it appears you could hear SoCal ? Nice that the power supply is
doing its' job better for your 375, hope conditions improve so I can hear
you.

The audio feed normally originates from my Softrock SDR when I'm not at the
hangar. But, when I'm participating in the net, the audio comes from
whatever radio set I'm using, usually the GRC-19.

In any case, the audio is routed thru a signal processor to reduce some of
the noise, then into a sound card which samples at 8 khz monaural using
"Simplecast", encoding the audio real-time into MP3. Simplecast is pointed
at the webserver's "Icecast" software to distribute the audio stream to the
website users.

I'm hoping to convince a few other folks to implement "Receiver + SoundCard
+ Simplecast" so we can have additional feeds on the website to select from.
It would be especially useful to have at least one additional site in the
Bay Area to fill the propagation holes. Rian and others have also suggested
that we find a way to record and archive the nets, so folks can go back
later and see what they sounded like at different locations.

I am interested in that power transformer, if it's truly an extra. no
hurry, so we don't need to ship it. I have a client who lives near you that
comes to SoCal every few months, maybe I can bribe him to transport it.

BTW, I'm replying thru the [MRCG] list so maybe someone will see this, step
up, and provide an audio feed ?

Always optimistic !

It worked, John! There was considerable delay in the audio (~20 sec),
though. Conditions sounded about the same down your way as it did up here.
Bad QRN, power lines and fading........

I like the concept! It was reassuring to find that it wasn't just me with
the noisy conditions.

I had my BC-348 with the crystal on and the volume cranked up. It really
helped cut out a lot of the audio hash.

By the way, my rebuilt power supply for the '375 appears to be working out
well. Regulation is much better (~8%) thanks to the parts and advice Dennis
provided. The dyno itself idles @ 1100, drops to 1000 on transmit, so I'm
doing OK.

If you want to build a PSU to feed your PE-73 let me know. I have a spare
transformer. Don't know it's design specifications but it provides 20A for
the PE-73 without warming significantly.
