Hi -
The mailing list should be just for text messages. I agree a separate area of the web site should be provided for attachments such as event fliers and photographs.

I agree. In my opinion, I'd like to see this mailing list remain plain ASCII text only. When there's a need to distribute anything other than plain text, that can be handled by putting it on the web site and including a link in the email message.
For folks who haven't heard yet, we are planning to re-do the web site's back end using Wordpress instead of Dot Net Nuke. If that doesn't make sense to you, then just pretend that I wrote "we're re-implementing the web site to make it better". :) I've volunteered to do much of the behind-the-scenes work on the re-implementation, since I gained some recent experience working with Wordpress when I re-did my own web site.
The specific details about how folks post files to the web site will likely change, but the capability will remain. Folks seem to like the picture galleries, and I can see benefits to being able to share things like PDF scans of rare manuals for the gear that we collect. Personally, I see the new web site as being the place for things like public announcements of upcoming events, picture galleries, tech manual libraries, and other such stuff, while this mailing list will be the place for open discussion about MRCG-related stuff (replacing the forums on the current web site, which saw pretty limited use). Questions, comments and suggestions are welcome, and this mailing list is the place for open discussion.
