Dave,

Another option is to check with W0RW of backpacking fame. He has a 50 watt PRC-319 which he offered to loan me but I'm too old for that stuff. Check with him on the availability.

I use my green radios at home but they are base units. I do lots of  portable operation with other sets. Where I could use 20 watts a couple of years ago I need 50-80 watts to get into certain nets during the day so I would recommend a higher power radio.

A friend has a PRC-320 which is large but outputs 30 watts and has a built-in tuner. I would check it out.

Don't forget 60 meter coverage.

Hello group,
I'm looking to buy my first HF green radio.. I figured that this group can give me some good ideas about what to look for.
Here are some things that are important to me.
Must haves
1. In manpac form
2. 40m.Lsb . 20m.Usb
3. Battery that can be recharged or converted to LIPO4
4. Something American, mostly
5. I would rather not mess with tubes.

I will be going to redball in PA for the event so anything looks interesting, I can buy it in person.
Email me directly if you have something for sale at [email protected]
OR reply to this with any suggestions on what radios to look for.
Thanks in advance.
Dave
