Jeep,
My understanding is that those mics were originally supplied with RCA home-disk-recording units in the 1930s.
That was the mic originally used with the SCR-288/BC-474 an RCA design.
Here's K4CHE's setup at the Gilbert meet a while back.
And, here's my earlier MI-8751 "Swedish Set"
I have a mic. I think this is the only place they were used by the Army.

I have two of the Kellogg carbon mics in excellent condition; cords and elements. I am told they pre-date the T-17. Someone suggested they were used with Jefferson-Travis and RCA equipment? If anyone is interested in them, I am open for offers. Thanks.
