Been a couple week and thought it’s time to do another post on the progress with the BC-654 Transmitter – Receiver. All the receiver issues are sorted along with solid stating. The vibrator power supplies. Have moved on to the transmitters. Started with cleaning and minor repairs along with having to Gloria Glue the ceramic drum for the loading coil. The early transmitters had a ceramic drum where the others have a glass bottle.  It’s a three-part affair and thought it was broken at first but only separated on one side. Still have to replace the antenna selector switch being it broken too, figure somewhere at some time the radio was dropped or hit in the face although you can tell from the front panel. Have replaced a lot of the bypass and filters that were not ageing well but still have a couple more to go. Right now, the big question is 1C19 and 1C23 the two huge 4uf 600-volt capacitors. Have not disconnected them yet being they are not easy to get at but have to test them. Hope they are still good because finding something that will fit and look right may be a choir. The good thing is or at least I hope is that for reasons that I cannot explain I have had good luck with very old meatal can electrolytics, have the original 8uf cans in my HRO RAS from 1938 that are still good, every wax capacitor was bad but not the big filters in the AC supply. Will try to disconnect and test the cans tonight in the 654. Attached is a picture of the ongoing work on the BC-654
