Ray,

I do the low dipole and it works well close in. Maybe about a 200 mile radius or so. It is about 20 ft at the center and 6 ft at the ends so not really a true horizontal dipole and not quite an inverted-v.

Maybe try 20 ft poles on each end and see how it works.

No way daddy O, some of us still have to work for a living. Looking forward to improved weather for my next attempt. When weather improves plan on operating from the mutt and maybe try beating the drum again for doing a Southern version after the Yankees are done.
Been giving thought of going Hog wild and putting up two mast and hanging a dipole cut for sixty, usually just stuff up some mast poles and do an inverted V for sixty, want to see if a proper dipole outperforms the V
Past experience has been that the inverted V tends to outperform the fourteen foot whip on the mutt and am now curious to see if a dipole outperforms a V.

Will also post this over and MMRCG and see if they have any comments, would have posted on Milsurplus but somehow got dropped from there list? Had been on that from back in the Dinosaur days but imagine something has changed.

Was there Moose and Squirrel Net today? I called and stood my before the net as well as a couple of other people. During the net I thought a very faint signal and requested a relay but no joy. Did work KC1ZT around 1800UTC but he was very weak. Poor conditions?
