NOAA/NWS, the FAA, and the AWS used the Functionally Oriented Maintenance Manual (FOMM) format for the NEXRAD Doppler weather Radar system WSR-88D It's a one size fits all approach that troubleshoots from initial turn on and then sequential development of symptoms, rather than intuitively "jumping" to the potentially obvious.  A tech with minimum training and experience can (sic) fix an issue.... eventually.  I guess it has merit... The USAF and NWS keep them going rather well.

This is a SYMBOLIC INTEGRATED MAINTENANCE MANUAL

Quite different from the usual equipment manual. I don’t know how widely it was used. I’ve only come across a few for communications gear.

I always get a kick out of this publication.  I am starting the restoration on this URC-35 (which hopefully will go smooth) this also is the transceiver that includes my favorite publication courtesy of Nick England awhile back.  It takes up the whole floor but hey at least it’s easy to read.  I placed a normal sized manual for reference.

Figured others would get a chuckle out of the sight of it also.
