I saw a similar setup at the Bombardier plant in Barre Vermont. They had huge (think harnesses for a subway car) boards with the pins on them. It was kinda cool seeing how they made them.

I've often wondered how they made the wiring harnesses.   For this particular section, metal studs are spaced for length accuracy.
