I would compare it to the 7 transistor 50mW Lafayette CB walkie talkies I had as a child W/R/T performance.
BTW, wasn’t the Glider BC-611 a BC-721?

Not an expert or anything like that, think Breck Smith (K4CHE) did a lot of research back in the day on the subject. Never been a big fan of the 611, always thought it was overcomplicated in design, and never used near as much as Hollywood implies. Can see it netting with things like the SCR-284 but not much else. But that’s just me and as OP indicated he did not want this devolving into discussion of the 611.
