I agree, a major milling job... at the least.  I just removed the large feet and am trying to make it look somewhat MIL. If I use a base-plate a bit wider than the original, the mounts I have may be ok if I use a fender washer so as to clear the outer ring of the pin assy.  I also may have found someone who can, at least, shear aluminum.

I use 1" rubber bumpers as feet, slipped  over the pins.
