As stated in the previous sundays post I arrived
Monday afternoon to the rally site and set up camp, my
activities started on Tuesday. Tuesday morning I headed over to
the KW1I QTH to do some pre planned welding/fabrication repair
on his M886 cab mounts, while there I was given a tour of the
shack and given a chance to guest co host the M&S net,
repairs complete I headed back to the rally site and arrived
around 1530.
Wednesday I repaired a leaking M151A2 rear differential
axle seal, when I pulled the flange I noticed it was split in
two, the owner was able to source one from a friend nearby and
the repairs were completed. My brother arrived that afternoon
and we re located camp to his motorhome(glamping).
Thursday I set up my vendor site, this is where I peddle my
no longer needed OD treasures and left over vehicle
restoration parts, also provides shade and a close eye on more
OD goodies that I don't need. I jumped on the M&S net at
Dale's M886 at noon, Charlie made an appearance( WA1GON)and
browsed the treasure of the vendor sites.
Friday WB2JWU and KK1K arrived on site, sales were good on
Thursday but Friday was the best day, probably freshly cashed
paychecks in the pocket. I met up with Mark, Ken's(SK)best
friend, he had a good assortment of the estate there to sell,
I was lucky to purchase a nice GSB-900 and a PRC-126, the GSB
will be the new dedicated M&S set in memory of Ken.
Saturday was a bust on sales, I sold $5 and the crowd was
very slim, mostly families checking out the vehicles and just
wandering around. I set up my M151 over by dale's site to
attach his doublet to my PRC-47 so I could operate on the RATT
net at 9AM. I was only able to copy one station and that was
Ray who was nearly 90% copy, I put out my call several times
with no reply that I could copy. I had terrible noise on the
channel and I found that the camper next to Dale was emitting
hash from a solar charge controller/system and made copy very
difficult. I packed up at noon and arrived home at 1930
Saturday night.
