Think if you’re doing something like a MRC-108 pallet that’s the way to go but if you are doing anything that keeps the radios mounted on the fenders its hard to beat the back seat. Attached is a picture of recent field opps up at Hagerstown
and it was pouring down rain almost all day Saturday and there are huge advantages in being able to stay dry! If you don’t configure everything acrost the back facing forward with running something like a 524 you would be facing the side of the radio in
the rear facing passenger seat.

Subject: [MRCA] M151A2 Commo #5 FAC Seat
Today I finished the installation of the FAC seat brackets, this allows the passenger seat to be installed facing the rear to operate the equipment in the back. The original seat mounts are un-touched and the seat mounts in either direction,
the additional brackets are mounted between the front mounts and on the toolbox cover. This is an original configuration used with the FAC radio set mounted in the rear of the M151 series of trucks, these would have been part of the radio installation kit.
I found the toolbox mounted bracket from a wanted ad and the front mount was reproduced from pictures and measurements supplied by Breck K4CHE. Breck introduced the set up to me and suggested I try it as it was a very handy operating position. First application
will be at the Weare NH MV show this month operating the Mite tty from the back on the Saturday RATT net.
