Hi Jason - Good job.  I like the Vibe!  Thanks for the report.
I spent a few hours on Mt Diablo Saturday running many CW FD contacts but all "modern gear" for a change this time.  The GRC-9, PRC-47 and RT-70 were all there as well but with the Bronco bolted to them in "standby"/mobile mode.
Yep the GRC-9 is a reliable CW performer from the boonies but the 6? kc wide receiver can't hack it on a VERY busy CW band for sure.  Otherwise perfect for casual CW/AM Ops.

I ran the PRC-174 pack set on 40 meters to include some tests with HF Winlink using the 174, Signalink and a PC laptop to send and receive some HF EMail to my XYL via an HF gateway in Reno.  I just ran the 3 meter whip and a quarter wave ground wire which worked surprisingly well on a mid-day, 170 mile shot. (Tilted over even better for more local NVIS contacts...)
I also had the Racal TR-967 VHF FM set for 6 meters and a PRC-127ef HT for VHF/2 meters.
Mission Accomplished..
Hope the photo does not choke the system

Tried to get the GRC-9 ready in time, but only got the receiver sorted out. Still blew a lot of appliance operator minds with all those 9V batteries in series at our FD camping trip.

Used the GRC-9’s long wire at-101 and 102 antenna with my little20W Chinese HF radio and made a couple dozen Q’s, best dx was Puerto Rico on 20m CW.

And yeah, you can clearly see I’ve been heavily influenced by someone’s website. :D

The 2024 ARRL Field Day is this weekend, how is this going to affect the RTTY Net on 7087 or the MMRCG Net on 7296 Saturday? Think ARRL F/D starts at 1800 UTC that’s 1300 EST so in some ways would think that the MMRCG Nets would not be affected but then again maybe a lot of us would want to be out in the field playing radio? I have no plans myself, unless I get inspired to drive the mutt out to the side yard and do some operating on seventeen and twenty but despite the fair amount of field and portable operation that I do every year I am not a member of any of the local Ham radio groups or the ARRL.

But being anti-social is more my issue and not indicative of the group as a whole.

The big social event for me is the Red Ball MVPA show and MRCA get together September 19th, 20th & 21st up in Gilbert.

MRCA always puts on a great show there every year, The MMRCG is also planning on being there and would assume that we will be doing operations on 5357, 3885, 51.0 (FM) and 144.25 (AM) along with the usual show and swap.

I will be operating the M151 mutt on Saturday morning from the Howell building on the MMRCG RTTY Net and the 7296 USB Net There as usual. Maybe this year we can have a designated camping aria for the MMRCG?
