My process with the Anysecu UV-K5...
The computer I selected was my daily use laptop. It had already been used for programming Baofeng radios
and it seemed to recognize the Anysecu serial programming adapter without any
fuss.
With
the stock firmware still in place, I found I had to update Chirp to the
latest version before I could talk to the radio. Once that was done,
Chirp-Next could read and write to the radio. I selected "Quansheng UV-K5" as the radio and I believe it was on Com 8 in my case. I only programmed a few test frequencies in at this point.
Next
I updated the radio's firmware to the "egzumer v0.22" using the "flash
with a browser" link opened in Chrome. That went smoothly. After the
firmware update I found the test frequencies were still programmed in
the radio - nice.
I
reconnected with Chirp-Next and finished programming with useful
frequencies. No problems noted. I discovered I could copy and paste my
favorite Baofeng lineup into the UV-K5 programming to save time (two
tabs open at once in Chirp-Next).
