I've run my PRC 47 at hi power SSB not CW.
It didn't seem to lug down. I never considered they were too wimpy. Guess I got lucky

That particular ART-13 is good one. Put out a good 120 watts into 50 ohms w/ 830pf of external loading.  Finding ready-to-go units getting tough... this one will get you on the air.

Anyone going to be at Sussex this weekend? I would go but with everything else going on just can afford to do it. Just finished the Delaware thing, got Hagerstown MVPA show next weekend and Hamvention coming up a couple weeks after that. Maybe if we have any radio turn out at Sussex may not do Hagerstown next year in favor of dragging the MUTT up to Sussex. The idea of getting beat down for the jersey turnpike for that trip is not too appealing!
Will be listening for field opps on 7296 and 5357

Hi Scott - Well I don't think these were intended for the PRC-47.  They are
only rated for 125 watts and the PRC-47 manual says the power consumption
"does not exceed 320 watts" (voice, nominal voltage) even with its low duty
cycle.  That did not specify "DC or 400 Hz AC" power but the overall
consumption would be similar in either case.  I'm sure some GI tried to run
a PRC-47 in Hi Power (100 watts) briefly at some point with this generator
but I think that would not be the design or procurement intention.  I
dunno..

It should run the '47 in the low power setting but even that may be close.
The Special Forces "inspection" photo I showed on my post indicates these
were certainly used with the GRC-109 in their service.  This genny would
make perfect sense at SF camps running 400 Hz power for a GRC-109 as a
backup system for their comms in 1966/67.  Anyone else?
Cheers, Tim
