Recently I was able to view an original MT-284 mount for the ART-13. I have determined that the drawing alone to reproduce an original mount would be $2,000!
That being said, it seems to me that there is little need to have a mount with all the shock absorbing materials when the ART-13’s that are in operation today are sitting on a shelf or desk with little or no vibration present as would have been in an aircraft.
I think it is possible to make a simpler mount with a heavier base plate and two boxes to elevate the ART-13 so cooling air can enter from below. Those boxes would be fastened to the base plate and have the knurled knob out front as the originals do and a ferrule in the back for the pin on the rear of the ART-13 baseplate to slide in to.
Right now, it looks like it might cost $250 for a mount as described. I am looking for others who might be interested as well. An initial run of ten would probably make sense with a 50% down payment. If they were not produced, you would get your down payment back. Otherwise, if you did not take delivery after making the down payment, the down payment would be forfeited.
I am open to all sorts of ideas of how best to produce the mount. So let me hear your suggestions and who might have the talent to make one.
This is not a money-making project for me. I will be happy to break even😊
