Dam, bad news. Not completely unexpected but bad just the same. With his passing the World of Military Radio Collecting will not be the same. He was a true friend to the hobby and all those involved with it.
I will always remember all the years at the Hamvention and his duties as NCS of the 3885 WW2 AM Radio net, all the assorted base stations he assembled together from the common to the exotic, the help both technical and material that he provided like the huge heavy GRC-19 mounting base that he dragged to Dayton one year for me that his biggest concern was that I had better take it because he did not want to drag it back!
All the times at MRCA Gilbert driving around in my mutt at Beltsville lake and him wanting me to drive it off the boat ramp into the water and all the PRC-74 stories. He was the master of the PRC-74 having to his credit use of that radio considerably during the Vietnam war.
Consider it a privilege to have known him, worked him on the air and spend time with him in person, and know he will be missed.
