Hi Mike - Thanks...I talked with Phil way back when they first received the GRC-109's.  He said they had "hundreds" of the sets (I think they came from Tobyhanna, the Army's '109 overhaul site).  I bought a 4-piece set for $109.50 in October 1984 and was very glad to get it; it's my "weekly" driver.  He said that only a very few went offshore as he sold them.   (I subsequently bought a pristine, NOS RS-1/RT-3 transmitter from Fair for $24.95).

But I really wonder where they all went? I know of 6 people who have a set. I've never heard a 109 on the air except for deliberate skeds with 3 of those.  I guess collecting dust in a closet is fine if that's one's thing....
Both those and the RS-1 are real pieces of still-functional history IMHO... I think $850 today is a deal....

I was talking with Phil on the phone and me mentioned that he has two complete GRC-109 “spy sets” in stock.  They had tons of them back in the 90s but sold out.  He says the sets have the RT-3 transmitter which was the “Agency” version of the military T-784 but are complete with the receiver, transmitter and power supply.  They are asking $850 for a set. He has two sets.  Last chance to get a real treasure from FRS.
