Cool, you had a great signal into southern Maryland and was fun working you on RTTY What were you using for a generator? I run a MEP-25 28 volt generator in the field and although it makes lots of local noise no electrical noise or interference whatever. Looked at a newer MEP-501 diesel generator that had a huge advantage over the MEP-25 being it had electrical start but after trying found that it’s just about as loud and had the side problem of producing diesel smoke.

As always the issue with running high power stuff like the 106 in the field, espicaley doing RTTY is you need around fifty amps of twenty eight volts.

Arrived Wednesday around 1500, 6 hour trip, M715/w shelter in tow. Thursday is the first day open to the public, had some showers, light foot traffic but managed to sell a few items. 1200 checked into the M&S net from the GRC-142, generator hash on the rx was obvious making the rx not so great, I will have to work on that.

Friday was hot, again light foot traffic but sales were good, spotted one WWII radio unknown to me, toaster oven size, it sold, one vendor had the usual RT-524 PRC-77 related items, nothing that great to report for exciting comm items.

Saturday was nice weather, fired up the GRC-142 around 0840, a few minutes of warming up and I was copying rtty, the generator hash did not seem to bother the signal, all good copy except the GA traffic. Ken went first on the UGC-74/B, when it was my turn I was going to use the TT-76, just as it was my turn a loud snap followed by smoke billowing out of the TT-76, it was still running but I quickly shut it off and continued with the UGC-74/B.

Departed around 1300 Saturday and arrived home around 1900 without incident. What did I buy ?, an original WWII windshield canvas cover for my 42 MB and a box of 16 various original M151 u-joints, a good find as they are all chi-com imports now.

Notice the original shade tarp deployed, I have only ever seen this in the manuals.
