Ray, are those the "large" bnc connectors ? , if so, I have several male RG-213 style connectors.

Ray, Harris RF used the C connector in other areas. For example, the RF-127 line flattener (transmission line matcher) also used C connectors. I think they can handle more power than a BNC and maybe they used them in applications where they didn’t want you to accidentally plug the wrong thing into them (I dunno, purely conjecture). Kinda like circular amphenol connectors that have different keying to prevent user error. Maybe if you had a 5KW amp, you would want the output connector to be something that you wouldn’t accidentally plug it into a 1KW antenna coupler. Who knows!

How can you possibly know this in such short order! I am almost more inclined to believe that it was invented just to piss me off! Why the Hell did Harris use type N connectors on the back of the RF-1110B and not use an internal combiner like every other RF-1110 but insist on using a huge weird external combiner to pair the two 500 watt stages that for some bizarre reason uses C connectors. The reject load also has a C connector but I did have the reject to load cable so that good. Think this may be the only application of type C connectors on a HF device that I have seen.

Carl Concelman (December 23, 1912 – August 1975) was the electrical engineer who, while working for Amphenol, invented the C connector and teamed up with Paul Neill of Bell Labs to invent the BNC connector and TNC connector.

I am convinced that the only reason C (and HN) connectors exist is because some government contractor had a ne'er-do-well son-in-law that needed a job building these cursed items.  And because they are not common, you pay the price.

Why do UG-565 Type C to Type N adapters cost so much! The final output combiner on my Harris RF-1110B uses them on its input and the output of the rack frame are all type N plugs. Been using just one half of the amplifier, two panels and that comes out as a signal N connector on the back of the amplifier frame. But now that I am getting the other half of the amplifier up and running will need to connect the original external RF combiner network external of the amplifier and that has type C connectors. Don’t know what I did with the original cables but will have to have matching cables from each set of amplifiers and matching adapters to keep everything in phase. Have a couple adapters now for the output and rejection load.

Looked on eBay and it looks like they beat you down for at least twenty or thirty bucks per adapter! Plus shipping. Maybe I can con someone around here for less?

Wonder who’s idea it was to use C connectors anyway?
