Yesterday I decided to build a rack mount for my RF-5000 set, thought about trying to buy one but at the end of the day built up one from stuff around the house. Started with using an old RCA monitor amplifier rack tray. It was built back in the early sixties out of steel and use to support a couple heavy monitor amplifiers so knew it would have no issue supporting the Harris stuff. The back stopping blocks and the front lock downs are from a old military GRC-19 mount that I cut up years ago for building a mount for my GRC-106 Drilled out the appropriate holes for installing the back stops and two holes in the front that I installed a couple bolts for the wing nuts to attach to along with spot welding the heads of the bolts under the tray so they would not turn or fall out when the front retainers are removed. Painted everything black and there you go.

The real question is ?should the amplifier be installed forward or backwards?? the mount works both ways, so it doesn?t care. This is with the amplifier installed backwards, rear front. I think it looks better installed like this, just I recall seeing a mobile installation where this was done and there was much P/M about how that?s not right, possibly immoral!  I think this looks better, what do you think? Attached is a picture of the installation and the front and back stop.
