I built a version and called it the "Ugly Tuner".  Note the "Current Detector" circuit  used to tune for maximum current and lets dem SWRs take care of them selves.      The Detector circuit can be switched to either side of the line to make sure everything is "balanced".

I have it in the shack running 500 watts and can tune my 290 foot inverted V fed with homemade 6 inch spaced ladder line. I can tune the antenna from 160 to 6 with no problems.
