Breck. do you have the link to the info about the breadboard tuner?
The half-wave is now my favorite field antenna, easy to erect as a sloper with one end in a tree and the other end secured to my table and the tuner. I use a 10:1 tuner and calibrate it with a 4700 ohm resistor (close enough to 5K). The little mark on my tuner dial is a reminder to either add or subtract wire. Granted the band width of the half wave system is fairly narrow (about 15 Kc on 40 meters) but it allows me to make a perfect match for my QRP field day equipment. When I QSY to other parts of the band I just touch up with the tuner knob. Usually just a slight adjustment for maximum noise will suffice or watch the field strength meter. A simple but very effective antenna.

Gang,
Over the years I've been really happy with the end-fed antenna I use with my PRC-104 HF packset. I currently find myself helping a friend put one together. Things got out of hand, and I threw together a presentation. (attached)
Please let me know what you think, and what your experiences are with similar antennas on particular radios.

Al
