I am trying to fix up one of these Racal receivers. It "works" but has an MDS of between 10uv and 30uv. I say it works as I can hear signals throughout the bands. I notice that the pre-selector has unity gain and is very narrow. Is that correct? Using a headset I can hear the signals. No go with the correct Z speaker. If I place a receiver pre-amp in the antenna line (e.g. Ameco PC-series), things perk up quite well and it appears almost "normal", although there iare no S-meter readings until the signals are very strong. Again, using the pre-amap and phones.

I'd like to fine a schematic to have a look at the front end. I hesitate to tweak anything in the dark. Things like internal IF and RF gain, and S-meter adjust, if such exist inn the receiver. Any leads on a book, too. Hate to have broken things laying about.... hi!!
