It’s called the gunsmiths crawl.   I usually side light.  Place a light parallel with the floor and look for the shadow of the part.   Moving the light along the floor will help bring it out.

And yes you find the parts everyone else lost too. Lol

Since my shop  floor in the shop is in bad shape I usually just surrender, call off the search,  and replace the nut  from my parts bin.
