I often see Breck mention his "Radio Buddies" when at a MRCA gathering so today while mounting a spare tire for my M715 restoration project one came to mind.
While at the fall Gilbert show I spotted a 900-16 tire in great condition I needed for a spare, a new tire is $350, so $40 was a great deal. The only problem is that it was mounted to a M37 wheel, the M715 uses a unique wheel and I did not want to lug that extra weight home. When I purchased it another man said he needed a M37 wheel so the wheels were in motion. I noticed a tire shop a mile or two from the show, took the wheel there to have it broken down. If you have never taken one apart it's no fun, especially after being on for 40+ years.
So I was waiting out in the parking lot with my M886 while the crew was taking it apart, across the street some of the MRCA crew were eating breakfast. I saw Dean KK1K running across the road(medal worthy itself) heading over to see me. Dean asked if everything was ok, I think he thought I was having vehicle problems, I'm 12+ hours from home. I explained the tire story and he was off back to eat.
When I returned back to the show the man who needed the wheel was right back at the vendor spot where I bought it and I sold him the wheel.
Can't thank members of the MRCA group enough, true "Radio Buddies".
