The BC-221 has a rich heritage in  Ham radio and  has served the hobby well as a well engineered piece of test equipment and as a basis for numerous projects. Scores of articles have been published in "QST" and "CQ" magazine.  Look at Section III  in the manual and you will see that it actually the set  is a receiver and a transmitter (Transceiver) complete with audio stage. The set is fairly easy to acquire but the Canvas Bag a BG-81 can be rather scarce but I managed to find one last year for my WWII displays.

Is this the thing everybody is making a hub-bub about? I got this 25 years ago at a flea market. I think I paid $20.
