The annual Able Archer 83 event will be at Historic Fort Miles located in Cape Henlopen State Park Delaware this weekend. In addition to all the Ham Military Radio activity that we will be doing on site as W3A there will be other activities
at the Fort this weekend. They have tours of Battery 519 on Friday and Saturday that you can schedule in advance at 11:00 and 14:00 both days, they also have their museum open both days and have been showcasing the latest artifact, a part of the Battleship
Arizona that gives them part of a battleship from the beginning of the war in the Pacific and one of the sixteen inch guns from the battleship Missouri from the end of the war. This is all in addition to the artillery park and the fourteen inch gun that you
can see in battery 519
Walt and I will be there at one of the barracks set up with the M151 “Mutt” and other equipment as part of the AA83 event and all are welcome to come out and take part. We try to just use Cold War radio equipment but would welcome anyone
who wants to come out and operate using any of there own equipment. Would be great to get several people together and maybe do a field exercise being that’s a huge state park with lots of places to operate from and I will have plenty of equipment for operation
not only on the low bands but 51.0 FM and 144.25 AM or FM.
