Throttle mic switch:  a zillion years ago I got a ride in the back seat of a Navy flying club T-34 out of NAS Glenview, piloted by a crazy Navy (former) chaplain - who was trying his best to make me puke...
The intercom button was on the rear quadrant throttle lever - and I apparently had a death grip on it.  Pilot told me to let go - he was having problems adjusting the throttle with me hanging on it....Duh!  Fun times....

I believe the Grumman (et al) manuals will include the location and functionality of the switch. The airframe books will show it, too. Whomever made quadrants for the affected aircraft would have the acquisition info. The F8F flight manual shows a switch but nothing definitive.

Thanks Mike.

I found the attached photo of the SBD throttle quadrant with throttle lever handle/switch attached.  It appears there was no connector in the aircraft wiring to the throttle switch except the 3-pin A.R.C. 9488 plug that connects to the J-16 or J-22/ARC-5.  The switch has the raised letter M on it.

The AN/ARC-5 HF manual mentions NAF 1124-17 as the throttle switch, but it is probably not the only one:

The throttle switch is part of the top of the handle on the aircraft throttle lever, on the port side of the cockpit.  It is part of the aircraft.  There is likely some sort of NAF number associated with the throttle switch, but no JAN nomenclature.  The 3-pin A.R.C. 9488 plug for the J-22/ARC-5 (or J-16) should have two wires as part of aircraft wiring going to the permanently-installed throttle switch.  I don't know if there is typically a connector between the throttle switch and its aircraft wiring.  The throttle switch and wiring are separate from the mask mic and wiring until they get to the J-22 or J-16.

I find NO references to USN use of any "throat mic", which is very different from the mask mic that's mentioned in AN/ARC-5 instruction books.
