Mark –
When I look at what you have built, it appears that the base you made works with the AT-271 (9 1/2 Foot antenna). The original PRC-70 spring base actually only fits with the shorter, factory supplied, 5 ½ foot whip antenna. This was done because the latch included in the tilt mechanism of the original PRC-70 spring base was not sufficiently robust to hold the longer antenna in position when tilted 90 degrees with the radio positioned horizontally on its bottom side. The AB-591 base was used with the longer AT-271 on the PRC-70 to avoid having the antenna flop over, but the radio had to be upright, resting on its battery box . Note that the diameter of the threaded attachment screw section of the AT-271 is somewhat larger than the one on the 5 ½ foot antenna, so if you got the original PRC-70 spring base you would still need to modify the AT-271.
If you do have the PRC-70 original 5 ½ foot antenna, it can be directly screwed into the AB-1036/PRC base that you show, once you remove the modified SINCGARS antenna matching section hardware you made to install the AT-271. This is much more robust than the original base, with a positively locking position when the radio is resting horizontally, on its bottom side. Because of this you may be money and time ahead by making this substitution with your own parts.
In any case, I have both the antennas you show and I will see If I can find my extra original PRC-70 base for you if you still need it.
Hope this helps,

Subject: [MRCA] PRC-70 Spring Base Wanted/Trade
I am looking for the whip antenna spring base for the PRC-70 radio. I have one I have made up using GI parts to get as close as I could but would like to find the original one. Will trade and add cash or just purchase out right.
Made up base
Original base, below key
Thanks
