60 meters at noontime have been in the doldrums at for some time. Pete, WB2JUW, mentioned that maybe we should change the time or frequency for the Moose and Squirrel net. I do like the idea of a midday net and have been thinking of some options.
- My experience is that the second round of the net is usually better than the first round. Maybe we could try to start the net at 1PM local Eastern time instead of noon and see of the propagation is better after the sun has reached in's zenith.
- Another option is to move to 40 meters at noon. We ran some tests on 7.262 LSB last summer and the propagation was better than on 60. Is using LSB an issue? The MMRCG net gets lots of flack during their 10 AM net; I don't know if that is because 40 is crowded on Saturdays or people have an issue with USB. In any case all of my radios (so far) support LSB as well as USB.
- That's it on a rainy Sunday. Any suggestions are encouraged. Hope you all have reflective Memorial Day.
