Hamvention is coming, things we know to some degree of certainty:
First that there will be a WW2 themed Net at 1200 local on Saturday on 3885. Ok, last year we had an issue with NCS being off frequency but that will be corrected this year. Intend to have the NCS crystal controlled this time. Those of us running old equipment had no problem but newer radios want to be on channel.
Second at 1400 will be a 51.0 Cold War FM Net. That has become a huge net often being over an hour in length, many stations and radios.
Have the MMRCG RTTY Net on 7087 at 0900 and 7296 USB Net at 1000 Saturday that some of us participate in from the event but they are not specific to the Hamvention. But great places to put your backpack to work and you get one hundred extra points for a RTTY QSO from the field.
The Great Unknowns! Lots of talk of a sixty-meter net but I do not know if they have been agreed by everyone. I think we should have a net on 5357 USB, ok its low power with the new band plan but many of us have radios that will do 5357, things like the PRC-74 and PRC-47 in low power will make it where as others have newer radios that will do the half splits so they can do the regular M&S Net channel. The big question is what time? Something on Friday afternoon or night, 1500 or 1700 local? Can be a brag net about that day's purchases. We have played around with a 5357 AA83 Net in the past on Friday at 1400 or so but don't know if that will be continued.
144.25 AM has also been used but never as a formal agreed thing, just as let's try playing around with some of our URC-110 or 200 sets.
MMRCG, 3885 AM NCS will have their regular pavilion set up in the 7738 to 7742 Mil Radio ghetto and Karlow's corner, 7905/6 will be NCS for the 51.0 Cold War Net down in the Yankee district in the 8330 neighborhood.
Any additional comments or thoughts lets here them.
