Cool set up, If you get the power supply sorted for the 375 or maybe move to something like a ART-13 for a ARC-8 set up think you can do many on air QSO on 3885 or better yet 7290 with that set up. I found doing anything on forty to be way better then eighty because you get good coverage on forty in the morning or afternoon where eighty don't open up until later in the day. ARC-8 set up will give you 100 watts that will work with a short antenna and still give great performance, and there is always a good group of AM stations to talk with on 7290 on the weekend.

Hi Everyone

As mentioned before, the airshow was cancelled about a week before we were to attend the event, but the group went anyway and had a great time! The museum was glad we were there and they treated us wonderfully.

Here's a photo of my setup:

The DF setup is the same as before, but I brought the SCR-287 instead of the SCR-274N.

The BC-348Q is restored and sports a restored dynamotor, and it runs nicely off a pair of batteries in series. Very little dynamotor whine. The antenna was a 50 foot wire run from the radio tent to another tent, and performed well. I tuned the receiver to CHU Canada on 7850 Kc and quite a few people were said they were "amazed that radio can hear that far"!

The BC-375 was for display only. The DF setup worked well with the Broadcast Band receiver, but alas, no NDB's could be heard this time.

Even if there weren't issues with the museum's aircraft, there was a temporary flight restriction issued for the Norfolk / Virginia Beach area on Saturday due to President Trump being in the area. The TFR would have significantly impacted the airshow.

Still, the museum's Grumman Avenger was flying the circuit all day qualifying new pilots. Here's a few videos....

As far as what worked well etc, nothing different that what I reported for the events I participated in earlier this summer.
