[MRCA] Looking for 18S-4 Transmitter-Receiver

As long as you are confined to a few discrete channels, it is a very good, reliable performer on AM. I have one on 3885/3855.  It is a bit tedious to set up the channels, and will require crystal(s), caps, etc. to do so, however.  It is also advantageous to have the rack, which incorporates a dropping resistor.

The 18S-1 and 4 were widely used back in the seventies on shrimp boats operating in the gulf.  According to Lloyd Godsey (SK), procured them from airlines that were upgrading to SSB, installed and maintained them.

I would perhaps instead look for an ARC-38, no crystals needed!

Hello everyone, 

   I have been looking into obtaining this radio along with the remote control.  It looks like a nice radio project.   

   What are opinions on the ease of repair and ease of setting it up as well as operation.  I know I would be building a power supply for it. 

   The other question is if anyone has one they want to sell or trade?
